Art Education


Are you thinking about becoming an art teacher?

The Art Education Option is designed to prepare students to teach art at the K-12 levels. With advisors in both the Department of Education and Department of Art, students are guided through the proper sequence of courses required for student teaching and licensure.

Students are required to take courses in 2D and 3D design, Drawing and Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Clay, Sculpture, Figure Drawing, and Art History.BelmontDepartment of Art

In addition to coursework in studio areas and in the general education core,  Art Education majors also complete 31 credit hours in Professional Education requirements including Art Education courses that prepare students for career options in both K-12 schools and in community art settings.  As seniors, students will install an exhibition of their work in the Student Gallery  and complete a semester of student teaching in two area schools.
